Our Mission

The Westside High School Dance Booster Club provides fundraising and volunteer support to the Inertia Dance Company, a nationally recognized program at Westside High School in the Houston Independent School District.

Established in 2000, the Inertia program aims to develop young men and women with active and creative minds, fostering understanding, compassion, and the courage to act on their beliefs through dance education.

It emphasizes excellence in the classroom alongside the total development of each student – spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

The Inertia dance program offers a diverse curriculum aligned with TEA guidelines, covering contemporary dance, breaking, jazz, hip-hop, Latin, dance history, and more. Inertia also integrates technology into its classrooms and productions, aligning with Westside's magnet status for integrated technology, and collaborates with other Westside Fine Arts programs, resulting in well-rounded, versatile, and adaptable performers.

Our commitment to Inertia also reflects our belief in the broader importance of arts education, which fosters creativity, critical thinking, self-confidence, and resilience.
